WHO I AM
Born in cuba, Yoan is an award winning composer, entrepreneur, music producer and sound designer based in New York City.
Havana Cuba 1990
After several years of study and participation in festivals and competitions, Yabor graduated from Amadeo Roldán, one of the most important music schools in Havana, as a classical guitar player and professor.
His career as a profesional performing artist began at the age of 16, interpreting a wide range of genres such as flamenco, jazz, salsa, rock, etc…it gave him the opportunity to make tours throughout the country and shared stage with renamed artists.
As producer, his path began when he was 20 years old and was invited to play, compose, arrange and produce a music record at Abdala Studios, one of the most famous recording studios in the Caribbean island.
Abdala Studios, Havana 2004
His music has been part of multiple films, radio and tv shows.
In 2012, Yoan won the best original music award in the Youth Film Festival of Cuba
with the score of “Camionero” (The Trucker), a multi-awarded film directed by Sebastian Milo.
After moving and living for a while in the States, he started understanding the multi-cultural complexity of the country. He began to be more concerned about the social topics the nation had such as gender and racial equality, health care availability, immigration and so on.
Coming from a foreign country, and recognizing himself as a latino immigrant who came to U.S. looking for a better future, Yoan started collaborating with composer and producer Jose Luis Revelo and together created NOMAADA, (a shift with the word Nomad ) a music production team based in New York City. His musical background provided a rich input to projects that were looking for a different approach.
Yabor has written music for some of the most famous brands in the world
such as Google, AT&T, Disney Now, HBO, Weather Channel, Univision, CBS Duolingo, Wellsfargo, Pepsi, and many others. (Visit What I do page)
